Happy Hump Day! My husband and I just got back from our first trip away/little weekend getaway from our little nugget. To say there wasn’t some first time mom guilt, would be a blatant lie. But on the other hand, it was an absolutely refreshing, much needed few days away with the love of my life in Aruba and the baby was in amazing hands (Thanks Mom and Dad!).
I have been to Aruba before and once this trip was booked I was so freeking excited-planning out possible excursions, yoga on the beach, paddle boarding, Catamaran rides and visits to favorite spots (i.e. Madame Janette’s & Flying Fishbone). But something pretty magical happened once we got there. We did NOTHING. We landed and went directly to the room for a nap. We did not one excursion. We went to the same restaurant for dinner all 3 evenings (shout out to BLT Steak at The Ritz-Carlton). We ordered a drink to the room to slip into our PJ’s and enjoy under the covers. And I loved every moment of it. It was 3 days of bliss and absolutely defined the whole “it’s not where you are, or what your doing, it’s who you are with” notion. Some quiet time with my husband was just what the doctor ordered.
It was not a trip of yoga, dining reservations, boat rides, and meditation like I thought it may be…but I did achieve a feeling of zen regardless. And to all new mommies out there- 3 days was the perfect length. I could not wait to get back and squeeze this little love bug!
